Cabbage or Pumpkins

Sometime ago, I believe at the end of last years school year; Brynlee brought home a small cabbage plant and asked if she could plant it for a contest. I didn't think much of it and told the kids to go plant it in the front flower bed and this is what we got.... pumpkins. As the plant was growing we slowly noticed that it wasn't looking like a cabbage. I have never grown pumpkins before or cabbage and so I had no idea what to look for until neighbors were telling us that we were growing pumpkins. In a few short months it took over the front yard, we would go on vacation and come home to see it double in size. So I don't know what the contest rules are but I think we scored big with four giant pumpkins; one for each child in our family!

Happy 15th Birthday....

September 17th we celebrated Connor's 15th Birthday!! I can't believe how big my baby boy is. I am freaking out that I only have a few more precious years with him in our home. Don't get me wrong I will be happy to not deal with his raging teenage nonsense when he leaves but in all seriousness have I done all I can to prepare him for this world? I feel like these last few years with him I am trying to run a marathon and get in all the knowledge and love and life lessons that he will need to be the strong man that I know he can be. I just hope that we have given him the foundation to get him through the ups and downs of life.
Connor is very responsible in his school work, I never have to tell him to do his homework he just does it. Connor is strong and independent and is hardly ever home. Warren and I have been very lenient with letting him hang out with friends and go to sporting events if he is all caught up in his schoolwork and if he is respectful and follows the rules at home. We have our moments with him but he does great for the most part. Connor has lots of friends and fits right in in high school.
We took Connor to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday dinner and had a great time. All Connor wanted for his birthday was to get his learners permit to drive and as soon as we can get him to the DMV that is what he will get. Connor is obsessed with driving, even to the point that he has the young woman's president in our ward wrapped around his finger and gets to drive home from mutual every week. Happy Birthday Connor, we love you so much!!

About two weeks ago it was pirate day at school and Baylee's teacher asked them all to dress up as pirates if they wanted too. Baylee was so excited when I pulled out an old Halloween costume for her to wear. She was so cute and very overdressed compared to all the other students but isn't she so adorable!!

Mr. & Mrs. Rawson

Garrett and Holly finally tied the knot on September 7th. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and the morning was perfect and hot which was a great thing considering an hour before the reception it started to rain. It didn't just sprinkle slightly it was a non stop down pour all night long. It was so disappointing considering we had just decorated the backyard and it would have been gorgeous! We made the best of it and moved it in doors at my sister Elisa's house. It was also so nice to catch up with so many extended family members that we don't ever see any more. Congrats to my brother his bride and their sweet baby girl Rylee, love you guys!!

Labor Day Weekend at the Cabin

As expected anytime Warren has an extra day off of work he wants to spend the weekend at the cabin and so after Carson's football game Saturday morning we packed up and headed to the cabin until Monday night. Connor again chose to go boating with his friends family and again we missed having him with us. We were by ourselves until Sunday evening when Warren's parents came up after church. I unfortunately got sick on the way up and felt yucky most of the weekend but there wasn't much to do because it rained most of the time. It was very relaxing sitting by the fire, watching movies, and playing games with the kids. On the last day we along with Warren's parents drove to find a nearby Reservoir for a little adventure and then headed home. I really love weekends like this out in the beautiful outdoors!

Father's Blessings

Every year Warren gives the kids Father's Blessings right before they start school and this year we did it on the first family home evening after school started. This is always a special time for me as a mother to watch my amazing husband bless each of our kids with what they need at that time of their lives. After each Blessing the kids hug their dad and then me and I am always in tears, the spirit is so strong and we are so blessed to have the wonderful children that we have.
On a funny note before Warren starts the kids blessings he always asks their full name to be funny. When he got to Baylee she said very proudly: Baylee DIVA White, what the what? Baylee doesn't have a middle name but decided to give herself one. She is seriously the cutest little thing ever, she cracks me up!

Co-PTA Presidents

What was I thinking a little over a year ago when I accepted along with my best friend Sarah to be the PTA Presidents for the 2013-2014 school year.... I wasn't. All kidding aside this job is very rewarding but I had no idea it was a full time job that I am sharing with my friend. We were president-elects last year and got to learn and watch the last presidents so we knew it was going to be work but nothing prepares you for fundraiser time. We have literally been at the school for the past two weeks every day for half the day counting money and taking and filling orders. We have an amazing board and everyone at our school is so great to work with. It really makes me appreciate the women who did this job before us because it is a lot of time and work but it is all worth it to pull off the activities and programs that our kids enjoy each school year. The picture above is our pic that the principal took of us for back to school night, aren't we hot look'n cowgirls!

2013-2014 School Year

Here are my Beautiful daughters on their first days back this new school year; Brynlee started fourth grade and Baylee started first grade. WOW, I just can't believe where the time went with my little kids at home. They are all in school now and you would think I have a lot of free time but actually I am busier than I have ever been. The girls were so excited to start school and seriously we lucked out with them both getting the best teachers ever at Bell View. I always said that when all my kids were in school full time I would get a job at their school and that is just what I did. I was lucky enough to get hired over the summer to work in the lunchroom as the noon nutrition aide. I work from 12-2 and love seeing my girls every day at lunch. The job is great and I am so busy that the time flies by, the only part I don't enjoy is being sweaty after the two hours are up.
Connor started his freshman year at Jordan High School and is loving every minute of it. Connor has always been so independent and walks to and from school every day. Carson started seventh grade at Eastmont Middle School and is slowly adjusting. Carson is very reserved and timid at school and doesn't like to be put on the spot but is doing well. Life is so crazy having four kids in school, homework, sports, scouts, working, PTA, and such that I am actually going to bed before midnight for once in my life. I know I will never get back these moments with my kids so I am trying to enjoy the craziness and love every minute of it at the same time.

Last Hoorah!!

Summer with the kids was coming to an end and I felt totally guilty for not taking my kids on more adventures while being out of school; so I asked them what they wanted to do and they all said SWIMMING! I have been so busy with planning and carrying out girls camp and then PTA that the summer has come and gone. It was so nice the last Saturday before school started as a family to go swimming at my brother's pool and watch the kids have a ball. Connor looks very unhappy but that is what he does anymore when I pull out the camera, he did have a great time too!

Texas Roadhouse Fieldtrip

Now that I'm so involved in PTA it's great the things you learn. During a meeting with Texas Roadhouse recently I learned that they do field trips and they will do one for as little as ten kids. So Sarah and I got a few moms together the week before the kids headed back to school and we took our children to Texas Roadhouse for a tour and activities. The kids took a tour, made rolls, had a chalk drawing contest, and even line danced. After they fed the kids lunch and gave us mom's yummy salads! What a fun afternoon and a free one too, Thanks Texas Roadhouse!!
